Vumbura Plains is about up market as you can go in the bush. It is in a particularly beautiful part of the Okavango Delta to the extreme north with views over the flood plains. It is on a private concession leased from the local community. Many of the staff are from the local villages and they benefit from the income from the camp for medical care and education.
The camp is split into two, Vumbura Plains North and South. They are both essentially identical having seven rooms each and are run as separate camps. The wide open main lodge area is panelled and decked in wood with an almost Scandinavian feel to it. It is boutique style and would not appeal to a traditionalist safari guest.
There is a wide open bar and dining area both having a very spacious feel. Dinner can be taken either with other guests or separately. The star-gazing deck, protruding over the flood plain, is used for sun downers and after dinner drinks. Here guests can sit around the camp fire sinking into deep cushioned seats appreciating the sounds of the bush.
