Duba Plains, Okavango Delta

Duba Plains is your archetypal classic safari camp. Set in one of the most beautiful areas of the Okavango Delta overlooking the flood plains it has a very traditional feel to it.

Although not currently promoted as such, due to a new executive chef, this is now a gourmet camp. The cuisine is outstanding, probably the very best in the industry.

The six tents are large luxury meru style with an en-suite bathroom. An additional outside shower is accessed along a canvas screened walkway where you can shower on a completely open platform, in private, looking across the plains for miles with only the hippos, baboons and bird life as company. The thatched main lodge building is at various levels and encompasses the bar, lounge and dining room. The furnishings are very comfortable leather sofas and tables made from antique doors. All around the walls are photographs taken by the famous wildlife photographers Dereck and Beverly Joubert who have a long association with Duba Plains.

Outside is a camp fire area and a star gazing platform which is often used for dinner and brunch. Set slightly back from this is a small swimming pool. Activities include game drives, boating and nature walks. The area is famous for its lions and buffalo and their struggle for survival. For the more environmentally aware guests a visit to see their bio-gas system is a must!
